The Contex-55 is a ten-key electromechanical calculator featuring the four basic arithmetic operations. It was manufactured in Denmark by Carlsen Bros Ltd (A/S Brdr Carlsen) between 1968 and the early 1970s. Source: John Wolff's Web Museum This model is part of a series that includes the Contex-10, Contex-20, and Contex-30. While the Contex-10 was manually operated, the subsequent models were motor-driven. The Contex-55 introduced fully automatic division function. In the early 1970s, the Contex series manufacturing line was sold, coinciding with the rise of electronic calculators in the market.1 During this period, USSR clones named Bystritsa and Bystritsa-2 emerged. The Bystritsa indistinguishably resembled the Contex-20, while the Bystritsa-2 was identical to the Contex-30. There is no confirmed information regarding the Soviet acquisition of the Contex manufacturing line from Denmark, but it cannot be ruled out. 1 Source: The Old Calculator Web Museum Weight 4,2kg Dimensions: 29 x 21 x 13 cm | ||||
