The Brunsviga M II is a pinwheel Odhner-type mechanical calculating machine, manufactured in 1926 by Grimme, Natalis & Co. AG in Braunschweig, Germany. In 1892, one of Germany's top sewing-machine manufacturers, Grimme and Natalis, bought Odhner's patent for the pinwheel-type calculating machine. The patent included distribution rights in Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland. The calculating machines were launched under the brand name Brunsviga — the Latin name for Brunswick — in reference to the city of Braunschweig. As early as 1908, Brunsviga introduced its first Model M calculating machine to the market. In 1922, the local competitor Rema, which had been producing calculators since 1919, was acquired. Thereafter, two new calculator models — previously Rema II and Rema III — went to production and were rebranded as Brunsviga M II and M III. In 1927, the company's name was changed to Brunsviga Maschinenwerke Grimme, Natalis & Co. AG, and later to Brunsviga Maschinenwerke AG. This machine has a history in Finland and found its place here in this collection in 2018. Registers: 9 x 8 x 13 Weight: 5,1kg Dimensions: 15 x 28 x 14 cm | ||||
